MALLANGANEE;

CHANGE OF VENUE

The 21/22 August trail ride previously known as Mallanganee Trail Ride is now being held at Cherrabah Mountain Resort outside Warwick in Queensland.

A key property at Mallanganee has a new owner who has refused us access to the property.  This effectively has us snookered for getting access to the rides areas that were used last year and the potential to more new trails this year.  Many of the locals are dissapointed and are trying to resolve the issue for next year.

The Cherrabah Mountain Resort has 5000 acres that we can utilise and at first look offers a great variety of landscape and interesting trails.  Any riders who have already entered will automatically transfer over, and any riders who have entered for Bonalbo can either wait for the new Bonalbo date to be set or request a transfer over to the Cheerabah Trail Ride.  Also any riders who have already entered will need to sign a Cherrabah indemnity form on the day.

Click here for Cherrabah Entry Form.

BONALBO TRAIL RIDE

POSTPONED

An Unresolved Issue with the local Council has caused the Bonalbo Trail Ride to be postponed to a date yet to be confirmed. ADBA received a phone call from Council Monday afternoon saying that concerns about noise and dust from the trail ride had been raised by local people in Bonalbo and the council wanted to discontinue the event on environmental grounds. An Email was received by ADBA late on the same afternoon threatening a huge fine if the event proceeded.

A trip for an unscheduled meeting with the Mayor and Town Planner on Tuesday afternoon failed to resolve the issue on the spot; however assurances were given that I would be contacted sometime Wednesday with a decision. This would not allow enough time for setup and the local caters to organise food for the event IF the decision was favourable. I pointed that ADBA had been running the same type of event using the same format in Woodenbong for the last seven years and in Urbenville for four years. The financial benefits for the communities were also highlighted.
